If we have to put every drink and beverage on a scale and see which is best, the answer is always the same: water. Zero calories, zero sugar, zero carbohydrates. On the other hand, water is also colorless, tasteless and odorless. So let's take a look at some drink ideas that a diabetic can enjoy without guilt…

Chocolate milk

Yes, you read that right. But we do not mean the trade chocolate milk which is full of unnecessary sugar. Make it at home by mixing milk with 0% fat, 3 teaspoons of cocoa powder and 2 teaspoons of calorie-free sweetener. We immediately save 70 calories and enough carbohydrates and fats.

Sweet tea

Again, trade options may contain a lot, a lot of sugar. You can brew the tea of your choice yourself, using fruit for extra flavor, drain it and let it cool. Next, use a calorie-free sweetener and you are ready for an icy pleasure without guilt.

Orange juice

A freshly squeezed orange juice is objectively more unhealthy than eating the whole orange. This is because by squeezing, we retain all the sugars and lose most of the fiber, which makes us full. To enjoy its nice taste, you can find juices that will contain only 3 grams of carbohydrates, all the vitamin C we need and the taste and aroma of orange.

Lemonade

Squeeze the lemons, add a lot of ice water (and lots of ice cubes, the lemonade should be frozen) and a calorie-free sweetener. You will not understand the difference from having used sugar! And you will get practically zero calories!

Hot chocolate

For the coldest days and so as not to be deprived of this perfect drink, do the following: Mix a cup of 0% milk with 2 cubes of dark chocolate (70% cocoa content), 1 teaspoon of vanilla and a little cinnamon. Melt them all together until mixed and enjoy your hot chocolate, with just 23 grams of carbohydrates.

Cider

It contains the same carbohydrates as a glass of apple juice and you can drink it cold or hot — hot, in fact, is one of the best choices for a cold autumn afternoon.

Energy drinks
Energy drinks can be good choices for the days when you need something extra. Be careful, though; their caffeine content is high and you should not consume more than 400 milligrams a day. Also, opt for a sugar-free drink obviously. The taste (and the ability to give you the energy you need) does not change!

Homemade fruit smoothie

Put some berries, some strawberries and a banana in the blender. Throw in ice, mix and you have a light smoothie that will not load you with unnecessary carbohydrates, but is not deprived at all of the valuable fiber of the fruit.

Make your own ginger ale

Ginger ale is a perfect ginger flavored soft drink. The problem is that trade forms contain sugar and it is relatively hard to find in Greece. But that does not stop us from making it ourselves, in the simplest way: Just put in a glass of iced soda and grated ginger. Add a little calorie-free sweetener if you want and you're ready to go!

Mocha

This mixture of coffee and chocolate is delicious and very fattening - if we choose to take it from outside. Make your own filter coffee and add in a tablespoon of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of 0% milk and a little calorie-free sweetener. You will save hundreds of calories, as well as a lot of carbohydrates and saturated fats.
